Mathematical modeling is the process of representing problems from fields beyond mathematics itself using mathematics. The subsequent mathematical treatment of this model using theoretical and/or numerical procedures proceeds involving transition from the nonmathematical phenomenon to a mathematical description, which at the same time leads to the translation of problems formulated in terms of the original problem into mathematical problems, treatment of the mathematical substitute, retranslation of the results and model checking.

Mathematical descriptions have been used for centuries in various fields, such as physics, engineering, music, etc. Mathematical models are also used in modern biology, medicine, philology and economics, as well as in certain fields of art, like architecture or oriental ornaments

One of the objectives of this workshop is to review and to show the participants how to use BVP4C package to obtain meaningful information. The workshop will also provide users with the information on several modeling approaches involving physics or engineering relevant to certain applications and numerical technique used in computational fluid dynamics.

This workshop is for undergraduate and graduate students, engineers and scientists who want to learn how to use modern computational tools to improve and analyse the performance of an application. The audience is encouraged to participate in this workshop that promises to provide a unique platform and opportunity to interact with the expert.

Course Structure and Topics Covered:

  • Review of Fluid Dynamics & Advanced Mathematics
  • Basics of modelling and simulations:
    • Governing Equations
    • Numerical Techniques & Mathematical Modelling .
    • Introduction to BVP4C and its principles and practices.

Objectives

  1. To expose users on the numerical method of computational fluid dynamics.
  2. To provide hands-on experience for participants using simulation software (Subject to change tentatively).
  3. To provide hands-on experience for participants using BVP4C Package.
