Introduction
South-East Asia Post-Quantum Cryptography (SEA-PQC) is organised as part of Malaysia Cryptology Week 2024 (MyCRYPTOLOGY Week 2024), scheduled to take place from 22nd to 26th September 2024. This is the first summit organized by Malaysia to address the pressing issues surrounding the transition to post-quantum cryptography within the South-East Asia region and beyond.
Ongoing advancements in quantum computing signal an imminent and highly disruptive shift in cryptography. Theoretically, all widely employed public-key cryptographic algorithms are susceptible to vulnerabilities. When practical quantum computing becomes accessible to cyber adversaries, it will compromise the security of nearly all contemporary public-key cryptographic systems. To safeguard our digital ecosystems, it is imperative to develop strategies, standards, and solutions for the post-quantum era. In our commitment to securing our digital world, we are taking the lead in organising this summit to drive collective efforts and regional technical leadership in quantum-safe cybersecurity.
The SEA-PQC Summit will bring together South-East Asia experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to address the quantum threat landscape and strengthen regional collaboration in quantum-safe cryptography. This summit is a good platform to foster knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and the development of quantum-safe solutions to safeguard digital ecosystems in the post-quantum era. The summit will drive collective action, policy development, and regional leadership in quantum-safe cybersecurity by convening experts from across the region.
