The education system of our country is a continuous effort to further develop the potential of individuals holistically and integratively to create balanced and harmonious individuals in terms of intellect, spirituality, emotions, and physicality. The goal of our national education system is to produce knowledgeable, creative, and competitive individuals in any field they pursue. Furthermore, these educated individuals are expected to guide the people and develop the nation towards becoming a harmonious society. This can be realized through a rational education system.
This education system also positions mathematics as a fundamental subject at all levels of education in our country. Its purpose is to produce students with sharp, logical, and creative thinking. To achieve this goal, focus should be given to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in mathematics and strengthening mathematical knowledge. It is recommended that various parties work together to realize this objective, ensuring the success of mathematics learning activities and mastery, achieving commendable accomplishments in the field of mathematics on par with leading nations like China, Japan, Russia, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, and others.
To achieve this goal, Laboratory of Computational Sciences and Mathematics Physics has continued its initiatives from 2012, 2016, and 2018 by organizing seminars titled Seminar on Philosophy and Mathematics Education (SPME2012), Seminar on Strengthening Mathematics Education (SSME2016), and Seminar on Ethnomathematics and Mathematics Education 2018 (SEME2018). These three seminars successfully brought together researchers in the history and philosophy of mathematics with researchers in mathematics education.
The current seminar, titled Seminar on Ethnomathematics and Mathematics Education 2025 (SEME2025), is a continuation of these three seminars and is organized under the Laboratory of Computational Sciences and Mathematics Physics. Experts in ethnomathematics and mathematics education from the laboratory and local higher education institutions will be invited to present their research papers. Additionally, participants will also present their papers. Selected papers will be published in peer-reviewed journals.
The objectives of this seminar are as follows:
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)
NOTES: Fees inclusive of Program Materials, Morning Tea Break, Lunch and Afternoon Tea Break
*Received papers will be peer reviewed. Accepted paper will be published in selected indexed journals.
NOTES: Please refer to the seminar website for the guidelines of abstract and full paper submission.
